Public Relations

“Public relations is the deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain mutual understanding between an organisation (or individual) and its (or their) publics.” - pria.com.au

What is public relations?

Public relations is about management of communication. PR practitioners help individuals and organizations manage one-way and two-way communication with specific groups. Some help raise funds for research and development, whilst others work to promote healthy lifestyles. Many work in organizations helping managers ensure employees work as a team. Others work in government so that communities are informed and consulted. Some lobby government on issues such as environmental legislation, and others advocate for better social policy. Many argue that the best form of PR is when an organization (or individual) does the right thing and acts responsibly. Unfortunately many see PR as fast talking your way out of a situation, or creating stunts for publicity. I hope this page helps paint a clear picture of professional PR work. - Ross Monaghan
